SHILLONG: Following the arrest of three of its members for their alleged involvement in abetment of suicide of sub inspector PJ Marbaniang, the FKJGP central body decided to dissolve its Ri Bhoi unit (western zone) in an emergency meeting held on Saturday.
“We have decided to dissolve the western zone with immediate effect,” FKJGP president Joe Marweiñ said in a statement issued here on Sunday.
Marwein added that the Federation had taken the decision to dissolve the unit following reports that members of the FKJGP’s western zone were also responsible for abetting the police official’s suicide.
“We would like to clarify that the FKJGP central body has no knowledge of this. We would also leave it for the court to take action against the three members of the federation for their alleged involvement in the case,” Marweiñ said.
The three FKJGP members who were arrested by the SIT include president of western zone, Centrewell Dolloi, member, western zone, Shemphang Nongtrai and working president, western zone, Lawyer Syngkli. They were arrested along with the Block Development Officer of Jirang C&RD Block, Granvill Harly Passah (39) and government contractor, Coming Star Kharbani.
