Myneni becomes India’s No. 2 singles tennis player
Mumbai: Tennis player Saketh Myneni has climbed to number two in India rankings in singles after reaching a career high ATP ranking of 168. Saketh has enjoyed a few good weeks on the ATP Challenger tour in both singles and doubles. He jumped 30 spots in the rankings after a run to the finals at the ATP Challenger tournament in Agri, Turkey.  Saketh’s most impressive win was against 3rd seed and World No. 115 Evgeny Donskoy. He also had two good weeks in doubles with fellow Indian Divij Sharan, winning a Challenger title in Izmir and reaching the semi-finals at Agri. (ANI)
Corey Anderson ruled out of New Zealand’s tour to Australia
Johannesburg: New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson , who is suffering from a back injury, has been ruled out from the upcoming Test series against Australia. Confirming the news, selector Gavin Larsen said that Corey hasn’t recovered yet and it would be better for him to continue with his rehabilitation. According to Sport24, all-rounder Mitchell Santner will replace injured Corey for the upcoming series. Larsen insisted that it would be good opportunity for Santner, adding that his inclusion would benefit the team as he could bat well and his left-arm-spin would also bring variety to the bowling department. FIFA suspends Thai football president for 90 days
Zurich: FIFA on Monday suspended Thailand Football Association president Worawi Makudi for 90 days from all football activities effective immediately. World football’s governing body said the decision to suspend the former executive body member was taken after Makudi breached its Code of Ethics. “The decision was taken pursuant to the FIFA Code of Ethics art. 83 par. 1, on the grounds that a breach of the Code of Ethics appears to have been committed and a decision on the main issue may not be taken early enough. Vettori to mentor English spinners
Abu Dhabi: New Zealand bowling great Daniel Vettori will mentor promising England spinners during their ongoing tour of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). England are currently in UAE to play against Pakistan in a three-match Test series. Seven spinners will follow Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid and Samit Patel to take take spin lessons from Vettori under England Performance Programme (EPP). Former New Zealand captain Vettori took more than 700 wickets in international cricket. He is also the head coach of Indian Premier League side Royal Challengers Bangalore. He will join the EPP batting and spin group, led by Zimbabwean Andy Flower, in Dubai for 10 days in November.  “I am sure that the players will benefit from working with him for the 10 days that he is with the EPP in November.” (IANS)
