SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya dismissed a writ petition filed by one Sengkal B Sangma of Phulbari, who was denied the distributorship of LPG under the RGGLV for Phulbari area, by the Chief Area Manager, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Integrated Areas Office, Guwahati.
Sangma had applied for the distributorship since as per guidelines he was qualified for selection. The guidelines said that the applicant should be a resident of Phulbari.
However, further inquiry revealed that he was a resident of Bangranggre on the date of filing the application and had later moved to Phulbari following his marriage.
Also the land shown in his application was not in Phulbari but Messangpani and neither belonged to him, nor to any of his family members.
The Chief Justice in the order said that the writ petition was devoid of merit and accordingly dismissed.
