Newborn’s body recovered
Police on Sunday recovered the body of a newborn baby from Malki Pdengshnong, Shillong. Necessary formalities were observed. Matter is under investigation.
Commemoration Day Parade
The Police Commemoration Day Parade will be held at Police Reserve, Shillong, on October 21 at 7:30 am in memory of police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty during the year 2014-2015. The Director General of Police, Meghalaya, will attend the function as the chief guest.
NSS workshop
A three-day district-level camp of the National Service Scheme (NSS) on a theme ‘a positive outlook towards life’ was inaugurated on Monday at Union Christian College, Umiam, by D.D. Lapang, Chief Adviser to the State Government, in the presence of Dr. Lakhan Kma, Programmme Coordinator, NSS Cell NEHU, Dr. S.R. Lyndem, Principal, Union Christian College, Dr. R.M. Manih, Convener, NSS district-level meet, and Gideon Kharkongor, Programme Officer, NSS St. Edmund’s College, and other dignitaries.
Staff missing
An employee of MES identified as Bahadur Chettri working as mason under the office of the Assistant Garrison Engineer (Happy Valley) has gone missing since Dec 9, 2011. In a statement issued here on Monday, the Garrison Engineer said the wife and the Garrison office had lodged separate FIRs in this connection, but in vain.
Office bearers
The Polo Point Taxi Welfare Association has associated itself to the East Khasi Hills Local Taxi Welfare Association. The new office bearers include Mynson Kharbithai as president, Peter Lyngdoh as vice president, Donbor Kharbuki as general secretary, besides others.
