Three more rape cases surface in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: There seems to be no end to the growing cases of crimes against women and girls in matrilineal Meghalaya with three more cases of rape being reported from across the State in the past few days.
Police informed that a woman from Moolait village lodged a complaint that on the night of October 16, two persons – Pyrkhat Chyrmang and Lui Bareh, residents of Jalaphet village – allegedly raped her 19-year-old daughter in East Jaintia Hills.
In the second case, police arrested one Kyrshanbor Markhap on charge of raping his 18-year-old niece at Mawbri village in Ri Bhoi on the same date.
In yet another case one Rimiio Lapasam (36) allegedly raped his 12-year-old stepdaughter at Mynska Wahshnong in West Jaintia Hills district on October 17.
