Cong: GHADC poll debacle unexpected

SHILLONG: AICC  in-charge Meghalaya V Narayanasamy  has said  that the debacle in Garo Hills Autonomous District Council polls, where Congress won only 7  seats, in an eye opener for the  party.
Speaking to media persons here on Monday, V Narayanasamy   admitted that the party did not expect such a poor performance in GHADC polls.
According to him, poor turnout of voters and threat from some militant groups led to his party’s debacle.
On the NGT ban on mining of coal in the state, he said that the State Government has taken a lot of measures to resolve the matter. On the vexed issue of   empowerment of traditional institutions in the state, he said that there was not much   difference between the view of the   Government and that of the village heads and the matter can be resolved through dialogue.
