‘Slain militants at Waikut not from AMEF’

TURA: The A’chik Matgrik Elite Force (AMEF) has claimed that the three militants gunned down by police in Waikut area of West Khasi Hills last week did not belong to the outfit.
In a statement issued here the publicity secretary of the outfit, Kuwatsrang Matgrik claimed that the three victims were lured to engage in dacoity by Dakchak, Westerfield Ch Marak and Lata Arengh who are no longer with the outfit. The outfit went on to claim that Dakchak, who was a former training master and not deputy C-in-C, in the outfit had also abducted Rongjeng pharmacist, Akbar Ali from Shallang road after he deserted the outfit.
