SHILLONG: KHADC Deputy CEM Process T Sawkmie has urged the state government to de-notify MUDA’s plan to extend its jurisdiction to areas under the autonomous district council.
Sawkmie felt that since the government has de-notified the DD Lapang committee on traditional institutions it should do the same with MUDA’s alleged encroachment into the “10 scheduled areas”.
The 10 areas include Nongthymmai, Mawlai, Mawpat, Nongmynsong, Pynthorumkhrah, Umlyngka, Lawsohtun, Nongkseh, Umpling and Madanrting.
Sawkmie claimed that people are facing problems in applying for water and electricity connection in these areas.  He also extended support to the proposed rally called by the Synjuk Ki Nongsynshar Shnong Ka Bri U Hynniewtrep slated for October 30.
