Platinum jubilee celebrations conclude

SHILLONG: The year-long Platinum Jubilee celebration of Mairang Presbyterian Academy Secondary School ended on Wednesday. The event concluded with a function held in the school campus in which Transport Minister H.D.R. Lyngdoh was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Lyngdoh lauded the School Managing Committee for their dedication and perseverance in their efforts in imparting quality education to the students of Mairang and its surrounding areas.
He stated that the effort of the teachers is always reflected in the performance of the students in their examination which also determines the success of the students in their life.
He further added that there is a need for building strong bonds between the parents and their children so as to ensure that the children receive the right kind of attention particularly in their education. He also stressed upon the need for the parent teacher cooperation so as to enable the students to get the right kind of guidance and grow up to become responsible citizens of the society. Lyngdoh also urged the students to whole heartedly dedicate themselves in their studies and to focus on the goals that they want to achieve in their life.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the School Managing Committee and Headmistress of the school submitted a memorandum to Lyngdoh stating the different infrastructural requirements of the school.
Other highlights of the day were the dance drill performed by the school students, a skit presented by the ex-students and a song by the senior students of the school.
The closing ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates and prizes to winners of different competitions and finally the lowering of the Platinum Jubilee Flag by the Minister.
