Body of slain AMEF cadre lies unclaimed

SHILLONG: The body of one of the three AMEF militants killed in an encounter recently is still lying unclaimed at the Mawkyrwat CHC morgue.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Superintendent of Police, South West Khasi Hills, said that on October 21 at around 3:30 pm, an exchange of fire took place between AMEF militants and the police team at Weikut area under South West Khasi Hills district where the militants fired at the approaching police team.
On retaliation by police, three AMEF cadres were killed. The bodies were taken to Mawkyrwat CHC, and out of the three, two have been identified by the relatives while one body is still lying unidentified at Mawkyrwat CHC morgue for identification.
The slain militant is around 25-30 years old and 5.5 feet tall with a fair complexion.
It may be mentioned that the AMEF had claimed that the slain ultras were not its cadres.
