Mookhep probe: Panel to submit report shortly

SHILLONG: The senior official DP Wahlang, who is probing the Mookhep firing incident, has completed his inquiry and the report will be submitted soon.
Earlier, the deadline to submit the report was on October 31.
Wahlang said that the inquiry part is over and the report will be submitted to Government shortly.
It was on September 24 last year that  two villagers were killed and several others injured at Mookhep in the police firing on a crowd protesting against the apathy of the Government to address the concerns of the people following the NGT ban on coal mining,
Wahlang was entrusted to probe the incident in March this year after the state government rejected the magisterial inquiry report of East Jaintia Hills Additional  Deputy Commissioner S.S. Syiemlieh.
Earlier, the deadline for submission of the probe report by Wahlang was September 24 this year, but he had sought more time for examination of witnesses which was allowed by the political department.
