SHILLONG: NEHU organized birth anniversary of Madam Marie Curie and C. V. Raman at NEHU Campus on Saturday.
The programme was an initiative of NEHU’s outreach to society for science promotion with a focus on the students of high school, higher secondary, degree science and post graduate from various schools, colleges and NEHU from in and around Shillong with a large number of participation. The Deputy Chief Minister, R.C. Laloo, graced the occasion as chief guest and L.K. Jha, Vice-Chancellor of NEHU was the guest of honour.
The guests emphasized on the hard work and perseverance behind such great achievements of the two scientists and motivated the students for pursuing higher studies in science & technology for the good of humanity as the need of fast changing time.
Poster presentation by the schools, model display by the colleges and invited talk by senior scientist from Atomic Mineral Division, Shillong on the theme related to the inventions of Madam Curie and C.V. Raman were some highlights of the programme. Prizes were given to the winners of poster and model display competition.
The students were introduced to an A V – presentation on the inventions and contribution of the two great scientists.
