Wine fest
The 13th Shillong wine festival will be held on November 14 from 12 noon onwards at the lawns of State Central Library. Fruit wine makers from all the North Eastern states have been invited to take part in the festival.
Office bearers
The Yuva Lokjanshakti Meghalaya has elected new office bearers wherein Khurshid Ahmed was named the State President, Suresh Mahto, Vice President, Biswajeet Das, General Secretary among others.
Diwali wishes
The Blaze Sports Social and Cultural Association, Upper Mawprem has conveyed its best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Diwali.
Bridge competition
The Survey of India, Bridge Club will organize the 20th Open Bridge Competition from November 14-15.The tournament will start with pair event in memory of Late J. Bhattacharjee followed by the team of four duplicate events in memory of Late Maj Gen P.K.Gupta in Survey of India Community Hall, Barik. All contract Bridge players are requested to participate and enroll their name to Prabash Paul, Secretary of the Club.
Seminar
William Carey will organize a seminar on Integrated Farming on November 30 at Ri-Bhoi Sepngi Presbytery & SELDA Vocational Center, Nongthymmai, Umsning. The seminar will have scholarly, technical, practical presentations and discussions on the topic by experts and practitioners.
Panel discussion
The Kyrwoh News Broadcaster (KNB), a local news channel from Nongstoin will conduct a panel discussion on November 16 to be attended by all four candidates fighting it out in the Nongstoin by-poll.
Traffic violation
During the month of October as many as 2096 violators of Motor Vehicle Act were fined by Shillong Traffic Police whcich realised a fine of over Rs 8 lakh from them.
Blood camp
The NCC, NSS & RRC of St. Edmund’s College in collaboration with Regional Blood Bank Pasteur, State Blood Transfusion Council, MACS & Blood Bank NEIGRIHMS organised a voluntary blood donation camp cum awareness program in the college campus as part of the college week celebration. Over 100 donors came forward for the camp. A significant feature was the large number of girl students participant in the blood camp.
