Seminar
A two-day UGC National Seminar on “Globalization and its impact on Regional Languages” was held at Sankardev College, Shillong from November 9-10. The seminar was organized by the department of Languages.
National Education Day
The University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya on Wednesday celebrated the National Education Day in the presence of the eminent educationists of the region. A number of colourful activities were also organised on the occasion.
Awareness programme
The Khasi Cultural and Social Services Society conducted an awareness programme on HIV/AIDS in collaboration with Meghalaya AIDS control Society at Mawsynram on November 10. Students from JNV Mawsynram, Mawsynram Higher Secondary School, Mawsynram Border Area College, among others attended the programme.
Office bearers
The BJP Mawkyrwat Mandal has elected 70 members with 30 executive committee members. While Drostarland Lyngdoh was elected as president, Seibor Myrthong, Lesly Thabah and Alexandar Syiemlieh were named vice presidents and S Ramsiej and Darling Lyngkhoi are the general secretaries.
Diwali
United Trust of India (UTI), the oldest mutual fund house of India, celebrated Diwali on Wednesday at its Shillong office with traditional fervour. The celebration was attended by IFSs and others.
