Kiang Nangbah College students’ agitation

SHILLONG: Condemnations continued to pour in on Wednesday over the police action against the agitating students of Kiang Nangbah Government College in Jowai on Tuesday.
The Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association (KJDSTA) slammed the State Government for the police action against the students while adding that the demands put up by them were genuine.
Speaking to media persons, president, KJDSTA, K.D. Nongsiang said, “We extend our support to the students and urge the State Government to restrain from using force while dealing with students.”
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJP Youth Wing) Meghalaya also condemned the West Jaintia Hills District Administration and demanded the State government to provide compensation for treatment of the injured students.
BJYM Meghalaya president, Egenstar Kurkalang said that the students were agitating in a democratic manner. He also criticized the Government for not putting in enough funds for the cause of education.
The CSWO meanwhile demanded an inquiry into the incident which had put the students and government servants at risk.
The CSWO also asserted that the Government should look into the demands of the students and act accordingly.
