World Diabetes Day
As part of World Diabetes Day 2015 awareness programme and screening for Diabetes and Hypertension was conducted by the Dept of Community Medicine, NEIGRIHMS, in collaboration with Mawpat Urban Health Centre at Mawpat Committee Hall on November 13. Health talk was delivered by Dr. Star Pala on the reason for diabetes risk and prevention.
Swachh Bharat campaign
North East Regional Institute of Education, NCERT, Umiam, observed Swachh Bharat Mission from October 2 to November 13. On the closing day, an on the spot poster making competition along with a slogan was arranged among students of classes VIII to X. A cleanliness drive in the NERIE campus was also undertaken.
Discussion over ‘chai’
India Foundation for the Arts, a national and independent nonprofit grant making organisation that supports practice, research and education in the arts, will organize an evening of discussions over ‘chai’ on arts at KJP Assembly Hall, Shillong, on Saturday at 4 pm.
Children’s Day
The Dorbar Shnong of Mawlai Mawroh will celebrate Children’s Day on November 14 at the playground of the LP School at Mawroh (Madan Skul) at 1 pm.
Blood donation camp
A blood donation camp was organized by HQ Eastern Air Command, IAF, at Station Medicare Centre Upper Shillong on Nov 13. Air Marshal C. Hari Kumar, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Air Command inaugurated the camp which was organized in collaboration with the Central and State governments.
Ex-servicemen rally
For the convenience of veterans from Meghalaya, an army bus will be placed near the main gate of Military Hospital, Shillong, on November 15 to allow ex-servicemen to attend the rally for Western Assam and Meghalaya to be conducted at DOU Ground, Borjhar (near Guwahati Airport), Assam, on November 15.
Raffle draw
Result of the raffle draw 2015 of Nongthymmai Sports and Cultural Club has been announced with ticket no. 4476 receiving the first prize, while tickets nos. 6829, 7771, 8586 each were adjudged second prize winners and ticket nos. 5943, 9961, 1608, 4502 each getting the third prize. There are 10 consolation prizes as well.
Dorbar member suspended
The Dorbar ki Rangbah Shnong Ri-Bhoi has suspended headman of Kdonghulu, F.M. Mawphniang, from the post of vice chairman for two months from November 11 to January 10 during an executive meeting held on November 11 at Dorbar Lumnongrim, Umsning. They alleged that he was scheming to divide the organization which was evident in the news report of November 4 on the eve of the November 5 rally called by the Synjuk ki Nongsynshar Shnong ka Bri U Hynniewtrep.
