Living root bridge fascinates US Consul General

SHILLONG: US Consul General Craig Hall who was on his first visit to the State recently was fascinated by the living root bridge at Mawlynnong which, according to him, was a natural wonder.
During his familiarization tour, he also highlighted several key elements of US India strategic relationship, with special emphasis on regional economic integration and cross border trade.
Hall visited the Dawki-Tamabil border where he met with government officials who briefed him about Meghalaya’s cross border trade with  neighboring countries, especially Bangladesh.
The US Consul General also made a courtesy call on Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and Governor V Shanmuganathan and had positive discussions on the future of US-India relations and Meghalaya’s place in it.
As part of his outreach, the Consul General hosted alumni of different US State Department funded exchange programmes who briefed him on Meghalaya’s cultural diversity and alumni-led initiatives in the region.
