NONGPOH: A training cum awareness programme and seed distribution of Rabi crops was organized under the visionary programme of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India known as  “Mera  Gaon Mera Gaurav” at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region on Saturday.
A total number of twenty two farmers from five villages of Mangnar, Nongpoh attended the training programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director of the institute Dr. S. V. Ngachan said that “Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav” is a scheme that aims  to increase the capacity of a village under which the village has to work as one team in order to derive maximum benefit from the aforementioned scheme.
The motive of the programme is to connect the farmers with the scientist.
In order to motivate the farmers’ to grow Rabi crops after rice and not to leave their land fallow, the seeds of various Rabi crops like capsicum, pea, lentil, etc., were distributed to all the farmers to be able to make it possible for them to make use of the fallow land instead of wasting its fertility.
The programme ended with a field visit to ICAR farms where practical demonstrations and hands on training was given to trainees.
