Man loots wife, elopes with woman

SHILLONG: One Seema N. Sangma filed a complaint against her husband Vikash Bose accusing him of stealing four trucks, gold ornaments, LCD TV, household furniture and other valuable documents from her house at Malikona, Baghmara in South Garo Hills and eloping with another woman.
The complainant also alleged that her husband had fraudulently attempted to transfer her properties in his name before absconding.

ITM venue handed over to Hima

SHILLONG: The organizers of Indigenous Terra Madre 2015 handed over the International Mei-Ramew Food Festival venue, the Lawkyntang Mawphlang and the Heritage Village to the Hima Mawphlang in a formal gathering attended by the Rangbah Shnong, the Seng Kynthei and the community members of Mawphlang.
Following a walk around the premise to inspect the cleaning work done, the group visited the compost pit created and maintained by the waste management team of ITM 2015 which was created and coordinated by NESFAS, Indian Youth Climate Network and Bethany Society.

School burgled at Sohiong

SHILLONG: Unidentified miscreants broke into the Lam Jingshai Secondary School, Shiliang Dongki, Sohiong, and stole Rs.2,63,600 on November 15.
Shimti Mary Mawthoh, Headmistress of the School, has lodged a complaint in this regard.

Idol desecrated in SWGH

SHILLONG: One Kanai Rajbhar lodged a police complaint against one Edrees Ali (42) accusing him of breaking into the Kali temple at New Modokpara, Mahendraganj in South West Garo Hills and damaged the idol of Goddess Kali on November 14 midnight.
All attempts to contact the SP and DC of the district for their comments on the matter failed as their phones were either switched off or not reachable.

Complaint against extortion

SHILLONG: Z.J Sangma, ADC, in charge Law and Order, West Garo Hills, has lodged a complaint that one Insting C. Marak, self styled president of Nakham Bazar Trade Union, was extorting money from local fish suppliers/sellers of Nakham Bazar, Tura by threatening them.

Girls should join Force: BSF chief

SHILLONG: Inspector General BSF frontier, Sudesh Kumar, has urged the students and girls in particular to join the Border Security Force for a bright future while speaking as the chief guest during a BSF golden jubilee function at Lady Keane College, here.
Various cultural programmes like Bhangra and Bihu as well as performances by the Jazz and Brass bands of BSF and students of BSF School kept the audience entertained.
BSF achievements were also displayed on screen through documentary and photographs. Prizes were also distributed to the performers by the chief guest.
