North Garo Hills police organise prog on preventive policing

SHILLONG: North Garo Hills Police have conducted people contact programmes in an effort to make public partners in preventive policing.
Through the people’s contact programme, Police can reach out to the people for their cooperation in crime prevention enabling the Police to verify the background of these outsiders.
The programme conducted on Thursday have enlightened people of the methods used by militants and other criminal gangs.
The Police have urged the people to cooperate with police in preventing crime.
The Police have requested the public, especially the business community to take the help of police for their security while travelling in vulnerable stretches which are prone for kidnappings and abductions.
While issuing the dos and don’ts to public regarding safe travelling.
They are advised to not engage outsiders and ‘not verified’ persons as personal driver.
The Police claimed that most cases, the personal assistance or drivers have provided vital information to militants about vehicle number, type and time of travel of the victims (owners).
The Police have urged the vehicle owners to provide the details of private drivers from outside the state for employment to the police for proper verification.
At the same time, Tura police have also carried out people contact program at Dobasipara under the theme “people are partners in crime prevention and preventive policing”.
