Senior GNLA cadre gives up

SHILLONG: A top leader of the proscribed Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) — Rakirak G Momin alias Jarek — surrendered before the Meghalaya police on Thursday.
Rakirak, who is the deputy area commander of  the outfit did not deposit any arms, police sources said addingthat the surrender was the result of continuous operations by police during the last few weeks.
He (Rakirak) disclosed to police that he got disillusioned with Sohan D Shira and his style of functioning.
Alleging favoritism in the GNLA camp, Rikrak accused Sohan D Shira of favoring other cadres of GNLA from his own D Shira clan at the cost of other Garo Clan cadres.
