SHILLONG: The upcoming inter-state bus terminus (ISBT) in Tura is likely to be inaugurated in December this year.Informing this here on Monday, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi said the ISBT project was more or less complete. It may be mentioned that Transport Minister H.D.R. Lyngdoh had inspected the site a few months back to check the progress of the project.Reacting to a query on the location of the ISBT being too far from Tura town, the deputy commissioner said the idea behind constructing the ISBT away from Tura was to decongest the town. The Centre had sanctioned Rs.45 crore for the project which covers 90 per cent of the total cost, while the NBCC is bearing the remaining 10 per cent. The proposed ISBT would accommodate 50 buses plying to and from all corners of the State to Tura.
Meanwhile, work for the Shillong ISBT which is scheduled to come up at Mawiong has also begun.
