SHILLONG: The CSWO has alleged that one Dlian Jana of Dira village under Mawphlang C&RD Block has not received full benefits under the SRWP for low cost housing, which was entitled to her.
According to the villager, she was given only Rs.5000 out of Rs.30,000, which was mentioned in the order of the Mawphlang BDO, in December, 2012.
They claimed that she was able to complete her house with help provided by the priests.
It is alleged that her family had voted for the UDP candidate during the 2013 Assembly polls and when her daughter asked for the signature of the local MLA, he directed her to the village headman, who told her that the MLA trusted and helped only those people who supported him.
“The plight of the people are being suppressed and denied of their rights to certain benefits, just because they are not in the good books of the local MLA,” the CSWO alleged.
The CSWO has demanded that the State government should provide the remaining Rs.25,000 to help the poor family.
