SHILLONG: The District Rural Development Agency, Jowai, the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, the Basin Development Authority, Amlarem and the MIE, MBDA Shillong, organised a three day training program cum demonstration programme for the benefit of smoke fish farmers as part of the North East Hill Development Programme.
The training programme aimed to promote value addition to fish, viz., smoke curing of fish, fish pickle preparation, fish cutlets, breaded fish products, fish balls, for the benefit of fishermen of Thangbuli and Umladkhur under Amlarem Sub-Division.
The main resource persons included Dr. G. Rajeswari, Principal Scientist, Dr. M.M. Prasad, Principal Scientist & Nodal Officer NEH and TSP Programs, B. Pradhan, B.K. Panda, Assistant Chief Technical Officers and S. Ghanik, SSS of Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Vishakhapatnam Research Centre, Andhra Pradesh.
At the end of the training programme, a total of 27 materials was handed over by CIFT, free of cost to the smoke fish farmers.
