JOWAI: In yet other bungling involving the Education department, question papers of the Class IX Examination 2015 have reportedly been leaked in West Jaintia Hills.
This time the question papers of Science and Mathematics for Class IX Examination 2015 have been leaked.
Students appeared for the Mathematics examination on Tuesday while the Science examination is scheduled on Monday next.
Incidentally, the Mathematics question paper was allegedly circulated weeks ago amongst students of Class IX in West Jaintia Hills, particularly among students in Jowai.
Sources informed that two question papers – Science and Mathematics – were circulated at prices ranging from Rs.500 to Rs.2000. “I only heard from my fellow students that Class IX question papers were leaked and those who can pay Rs. 300, Rs.500 or Rs.2000, depending on the subject, may avail these question papers,” revealed a relative of this scribe.
This scribe happened to receive a hand-written copy of the Mathematics question paper few days before the examination scheduled on Tuesday and had lodged a complaint with the Circle Inspector cum Officer In charge of Jowai Police Station on Monday afternoon.
On Tuesday, immediately after the examination was over, this scribe took the help of a teacher and tallied the MBOSE question paper with the hand-written question paper and found that both papers were an exact match.
When the matter was intimated to West Jaintia Hills Addl. SP, Chemphang Syrti, and also to the Circle Inspector, Jowai, they agreed that it was a serious issue.
“It is a matter of concern that secrecy is not being maintained by the concerned department. We will enquire into the matter,” Syrti asserted.
Jowai Police has registered a case in this regard under sections 406, 408, 409 & 420 of the IPC. It may be mentioned that leakage of Class IX question papers had happened in 2014 at Umkiang area in East Jaintia Hills.
