SHILLONG: Deficit supply of cooking gas is causing hardship to customers in Shillong especially in Jail Road areas.
Some residents said that Diwali was marred in many households with the kitchens shut and the families buying cooked food from restaurants and fast food shops.
“A customer is entitled to 12 cylinders in a year, those in Jail Road got hardly 10 cylinders in 2014-2015. In 2015-2016 they have so far been provided only 5 cylinders from April to November,” a resident said.
Some residents also said that there was a gap of 56 days between the last two deliveries of cylinders.
“The question is, can an average family survive 56 days with only one cylinder?” a resident asked.
He added that in Jail Road, the consumers are yet to get the next cylinder after the last delivery carried out more than a month ago that is on October 15.
When contacted, Deputy Commissioner PS Dkhar said that he would look into the matter.
