Health camp
A free early diabetic retinopathy screening camp will be organized on November 27 by Sankaradeva Nethralaya, Guwahati in collaboration with the District Administration, West Jaintia Hills and District Blindness Control Society, Jaintia Hills at Science Hall, Circuit House, Jowai and High Winds, Thadlaskein on November 27 from 9am onwards.The camp is meant for the people above 40 years of age.
Mock exercise
A mock exercise on disaster risk reduction was conducted at Polo Service Station, Demseiniong on Wednesday. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Bn, Guwahati in collaboration with the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) and the District Administration conducted the mock exercise.
Prohibition
The Sub Divisional Magistrate, Sohra Civil Sub Division has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting burning of grass, woods, coal etc., and grazing of cattle/other domestic animals in forest/grasslands/parks/gardens/places of plantation in Sohra Sub Division.
Protest
In response to the clarion call of National Joint Council of Action, New Delhi the Central Govt. Employees of Shillong will observe Black Day on November 27 by wearing black badges and holding a lunch hour demonstration in front of Shillong GPO to protest the recommendation of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
