UDP thanks voters
The United Democratic Party- Nongstoin circle has extended its gratitude to all the electorates of Nongstoin Assembly Constituency in general and to those who supported the party in particular. While respecting the people’s mandate the Circle extended  its gratitude to the leaders from West Khasi Hills district and also the leaders from the Central Executive Committee who had spared their valuable time to rally support in the run up to the recently concluded by election.
Stadium closure
The Chief Engineer, State Sports Council has informed that in view of the up-gradation works at J.N.S. Complex, Polo, the main stadium will remain closed for all activities from November 23 until further orders due to the preparation for the up-coming South Asian Games 2016.
Bus tickets
The MTC will issue tickets three days in advance for buses to Silchar (day/night), Karimganj (night) and Tura/Williamnagar (night) from December 1.
Strike deferred
The proposed strike of the postal employees called by NFPE scheduled to be held December 1 and 2 has been deferred.
Seminars
William Carey University will conduct a seminar on Integrated Farming on November 30 at Ri-Bhoi Sepngi Presbytery & SELDA Vocational Center, Nongthymmai at 9:30 am.
A seminar on “Northeast- as an Organic Hub” will be held on November 27 at Hotel Polo Towers at 9.30 am.
Convocation
The second convocation of the William Carey University will be held on December 2 at 11 am at the Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Assembly Center, Central Ward. D.D. Lapang, Chief Advisor to the State Government, will be the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Tennis camp
The Meghalaya Tennis Association (MTA) will organise a tennis coaching camp for children between the age group of 6-14 years from December 4-9 at Shillong Club Tennis Courts. The last date for receiving entry is December 3.
Teachers’ election
The Khasi Jaintia Higher Secondary Adhoc Teachers’ Association (KJHSATA) will hold its general election to the executive body on December 5 at KJP Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Mission Compound, Mawkhar at 10:30 am.
Blessing
The inauguration and Blessing of the St. Eugene Parish at Lakadong village at East Jaintia Hills District will be held on November 29. The Blessing will start with the Holy Mass at 10 am, followed by cultural programme at 1 pm and conclude with the Sacrament Blessing at 4 pm.
Re-union
The re-union of past boarders of New Hostel, St. Edmund’s College will be held on December 12. Boarders can confirm their participation on or before December 6. For any details they can contact Dr. V.R. Rao, Hostel Superintendent cum Secretary, Organizing Committee.
