SHILLONG: It may take years for Meghalaya to be developed into an organic state as was the case with Sikkim.
This was observed by M.N. Nampui, Joint Director, Agriculture who informed that it took a decade to develop Sikkim into an organic state.
Addressing the gathering during a seminar titled “North East as an Organic Hub” here on Friday, Nampui said, “Sustained efforts involving farmers and stakeholders in preserving mother earth, soil, natural resources lead to organic farming.”
She also urged the stakeholders to change the mindset of the people by sensitizing them about organic farming.
