SHILLONG: Shillong Police has begun investigation into the leakage of question papers of the Class IX examinations.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police M. Kharkrang on Friday said a number of students were questioned and police had obtained certain leads.
So far no one has been arrested in connection with the leakage of question papers.
KJDSTA against any harassment to students
The Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers’ Association (KJDSTA), meanwhile, has appealed MBOSE Executive Chairman, E.P. Kharbhih, to ensure that culprits involved in the leakage are brought to book but the students, who were allegedly involved in circulating the leaked question papers, are not harassed.
“The manner of conducting examinations should be free and fair and there is a need to adopt the right mechanism for the conduct of examinations,” K.D. Nongsiang, President, KJDSTA, said on Friday, while stating that KJDSTA has suggested the Board to keep the question papers in the safe custody of banks or police stations to prevent such incidents in future.
The Association observed that leakage was a burden to the students, teachers and the society at large.
The Association also held the heads of institutions and MBOSE responsible for   the leakage of question papers.
The FKJGP central body on Friday requested the Deputy Director, MBOSE, to set up a committee to investigate the leakage of Class IX papers and to punish the culprits.
Marbaniang assured them that a committee to investigate the matter has been set under him and FIRs have been filed in Jowai and Sardar police stations.
The FKJGP observed that the problem has caused unnecessary burden to the students who have work hard for the examinations.
