Shillong: A team of ten cane and bamboo handicraft entrepreneurs from the State left for Ernakulam in Kerala to participate in the five-day Kerala Bamboo Fest, 2015 organized by the Kerala State Bamboo Mission, Government of Kerala to be held at Marine Drive (Kochi) from December 4-8.
A government statement said participation in the Fest will motivate the local handicrafts for upgrading their skill and ‘Make In India’ programme of the Central government in the field of handicrafts, cane & bamboo sector.
Further, the State government in upgrading the skill of the local entrepreneurs has tied up with IIT, Guwahati in order to develop designs, symmetrical moulds, e-marketing strategy for these kinds of activities in order to inculcate the Sustainable Livelihood Development in the State.
A workshop with IIT, Guwahati is scheduled to be held at Jowai from December 10-12 and at Mawkyrwat from December 14-16.
