M’laya has 911 unelectrified villages, RS informed

SHILLONG: Meghalaya has electrified only one village during the year 2015-2016.
This was stated by Piyush Goyal, Minister of State in charge Power in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Monday
As on April 1 this year, there are a total of 911 un-electrified villages in Meghalaya, the Minister said while giving the  state wise details of un-electrified villages in the country.
The Minister said that the Centre has envisioned an aim to electrify all un-electrified villages of the country by May 1, 2018.
Mizoram has a total of 58 un-electrified villages and after 16 villages were electrified for the year 2015-2016, the number of un-electrified villages now stands at 42.
In Nagaland,  82 villages are yet to be electrified, while in Manipur, the number of  yet to be electrified villages is 218, and in Tripura 23.
In Assam out of the total 2890 un-electrified villages, 170 villages were electrified this year and the remaining are 2720.
According to a report, there are 18452 villages left for electrification in 19 states.
