SHILLONG: A delegation of teachers trained under the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) met Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and apprised him of the need to advertise vacant posts of teachers and conduct the TET (Teachers’ Eligibility Test) at the earliest.
The chief minister informed them that the matter was pending with the Education minister.
Reggie Thongni, a trained teacher under DIET, added that according to the RTI findings last year there were over 800 vacant posts of Assistant Teachers in UP and LP schools in the State where one of the eligibility criteria mentions that a candidate should have cleared the TET.
“We met the CM and requested him to conduct the TET enabling the teachers to serve in schools but till date nothing has been notified,” Thongni lamented.
