SHILLONG: The banned HNLC has blamed politicians for creating militant outfits in the state.
In a statement issued to a section of the press on Sunday, HNLC publicity secretary, Sainkupar Nongtraw said that creation of militants in Garo Hills was without any principle and aimed at benefitting only the politicians.
The HNLC leader also claimed that two politicians tried to float a militant group in Khasi-Jaintia Hills too.
Commenting on the spurt in cases of abduction in the state with reference to the kidnapping of coal dealer Dinar Syiemlieh, the HNLC leader blamed the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mukul Sangma for the mess.
The HNLC also deplored the apathy of the government in finding out the real culprits behind the killing of two innocent civilians in Mookhep in September last year.
