Guv sends JHADC VAB to State Govt

SHILLONG: Governor V. Shanmuganathan has sent the Village Administration Bill of the JHADC to the District Council Affairs department and subsequently after consultations with the Law department the matter was referred to JHADC for further amendment of the Bill.
An official source on Monday said the Governor had sent the Bill back to the Government last week, seeking clarifications on the wordings such as non-tribals and indigenous tribes among other few queries for further clarity.
The source added the additional clarifications sought by the Governor on the Jaintia Autonomous District Council (Establishment of Elaka and Village Election, Appointment, Powers, Functions and Jurisdiction of Dolloi/Sirdar and Waheh Shnong) Bill, 2015 has already been forwarded to JHADC for rectification.
