HANM women’s wing members on indefinite hunger strike

NONGPOH: Peeved by the alleged indifferent attitude of the State Government towards its demands, the Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM), women’s wing, central body launched an indefinite hunger strike near Nongpoh Civil Hospital here on Monday.
The HANM (WW) is demanding the approval of the detailed project report for speeding up the process of construction of the PWD road connecting 13 Mile to Killing in Ri Bhoi.
The HANM (WW) said that deplorable road condition in the area has forced the local residents to use the Assam road to reach Meghalaya despite facing being harassment on numerous occasions.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, HANM (WW) president  B. Jyrwa and secretary B. Khongjoh said that they were compelled to take this drastic act of going ahead with the indefinite hunger strike as the state government, especially the PWD, turned a deaf ear to their demand.
