Horticulture Exhibition in WJH to motivate the farmers

JOWAI: In a bid to encourage farmers in the District, the Officer of the District Horticulture Officer in West Jaintia Hills held a one day Exhibition at Marian Hill Higher Secondary School Jowai on Thursday.
Farmers from across the District exhibited their produces such as vegetables, fruits and flowers.
The Chief Guest of the function was Parliamentary Secretary in charge Horticulture Department.
Joint Director of the State Agriculture Department, G. Dohling said that farming is improving in the state. He informed that the Department has conducted similar exhibition in Mairang, Khliehriat.
“Since 1958 when fertilizers were introduced to farmers, cultivation in the state has improved a lot.
However, with the introduction of Organic Mission we have been doubt about the quantity, however with various trainings programme being provide to farmers the production has improved again.,” Dohling said.
