Dry Days declared
The Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills has declared ‘Dry Day’ in the District on December 24 and 25 in view of the Christmas festival. January 1 has also been declared a dry day on account of New Year’s Day. All liquor shops/IMFL shops, bars etc., will remain closed as per the order.
Music concert
The Riti Academy will organise a music concert titled “Psalmphony” from 3 pm onwards on December 19 at U Soso Tham Auditorium to raise funds for the Academy. Students of music from Shillong-based institutions will take part in the concert. As part of the programme hundreds of there will be the distribution of hundreds of gifts to the audience donated by an anonymous philanthropist.
Awareness campaign
Meghalaya Upliftment Network, an organization registered under the Registration of Societies Act 1860 and affiliated to Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), conducted an awareness campaign on JEE Main/AIPMT 2016 on December 15 at Lower Lachaumiere in the city. 25 aspiring candidates participated in this awareness campaign.
