SHILLONG: The State government is yet to complete the process of disbursement of one time financial package to ANVC & ANVC-B militants even as it has promised a similar package to UALA militants during the signing of the peace pact on December 18.
With the verification process still on, the disbursement of the financial package to ANVC & ANVC-B cadres may be delayed further, sources said on Sunday.
As per the package, the Centre will provide Rs.1.5 lakh each to be distributed to the cadres.
According to sources, the State government is likely to provide another Rs.1 lakh to each of the cadres.
While ANVC has over 150 cadres who will benefit from the package, the names of as many as 139 cadres of ANVC-B figure in the list of beneficiaries. In addition, 30 more will be included from ANVC-B.
Sources said the government recently included the names of ‘commander-in-chief’ and ‘general secretary’ of ANVC-B after their names were initially excluded from the list over the issue of ‘pseudo names’.
When contacted, former ANVC-B leader Bernard Marak hoped that the verification process will be completed soon.
He, however, deplored the non inclusion of ANVC-B leaders in the committees formed by the state government to pursue the development initiatives mentioned in the Agreed Text of Settlement.
