Former CM shares his association with personal friend

SHILLONG: There are many similarities between these close friends, former legislator from Mawkhar Friday Lyngdoh, who passed away on December 24 and former Chief Minister DD Lapang.
While Late Lyngdoh was a church leader and MPCC president,  Lapang, who was a close associate of the late leader, is currently holding the post of MPCC president.
Like late Lyngdoh, Lapang is also a church leader of the Presbyterian Church.
Moreover, both were also very active in the social field ad they were associated with Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA).
“We were very much part of the YMCA and engaged in social works, moreover, we were together in religious activities too”, Lapang told The Shillong Times on Saturday.
Commenting about the political life of late Lyngdoh, a three-time legislator, Lapang said,” Under me as the Chief Minister, he did very well and he was a very down to earth man”.
Lapang also said that after late Lyngdoh took over the reins of Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee in 2008, he had revamped the party, and he did not compromise on anything which was against the principles of the party.
Long ago as BDO and holding other offices in East Khasi Hills district, he had rendered a lot of service to the needy, Lapang said
“Last time when I visited him at his residence, he was very happy to see me. He was my personal friend”, Lapang recalled.
