Alleged fraud
A woman identified as Ribhalin Warbah of Nongthymmai, Nongkhyriem, lodged a complaint on December 24 that one Andrew Ropmay failed to deposit her money amounting to Rs. 45,000 which she gave to him to deposit in her account at HDFC Bank.
NGT ban violation
On December 19, four coal laden trucks, (AS-25AC-0025), (AS-25AC-0125, (AS-11BC-3088) and (AS-10C-0564), were detected at DC Office, junction, Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills while they were illegally transporting coal in violation of NGT order.
Window panes broken
A woman, Charity L. Nonglait lodged a complaint that on December 25 at around 3 pm, one Charles Thongni (25) broke the windowpanes of her house at Nongrimbah Block-V, Shillong. However, on hearing the sound of a family member who was present in the house, the accused fled away. Later, Police arrested the accused.
Abandoned vehicle
On December 26, one Hyundai Santro car (AS-01DC-2853) was found abandoned at Motinagar, and was towed to Laitumkhrah police station for safe custody.
Several injured
On December 23 at around 7.30 pm, one unknown truck dashed against one local taxi (ML-10A-2430) driven by Pynshai Jana (33) at Nongtraw village, Shillong By-pass in Ri Bhoi. As a result, the driver of the local taxi sustained grievous injuries and was shifted to Civil Hospital Shillong.
On December 25 at around 10.30 pm, one motorcycle (ML-10A-9842) ridden by Latison Marak dashed against a culvert at 16th Mile, Byrnihat (Ri Bhoi). As a result, the rider and one pillion rider Suresh Gupta sustained injuries.
On December 25 at around 9.45 pm, one Maruti Wagon-R (AS-01B-8066) driven by Kanjal Sharma capsized at 19th Mile, Byrnihat (RB). As a result, the driver sustained minor injuries.
Drivers flee after accident
On December 24, an accident took place between one Maruti local taxi (ML-05H-7623) and a Maruti van (ML-05A-5999) at 4th Mile, Upper Shillong. As a result, three occupants of the local taxi sustained injuries and were shifted to Civil Hospital Shillong. Drivers of both the vehicles fled away after the incident.
Body recovered
On December 24 morning, one unidentified male body was recovered from Khanapara near NH-37 in Ri Bhoi. The cadaver was sent to Civil Hospital Nongpoh for post mortem examination.
On December 23 at around 1.30 pm, the body of one Tilak Gurung (55) was found on the road at Nongmynsong, Shillong. Police said that necessary formalities have been observed and the cadaver was sent to Civil Hospital, Shillong for post mortem.
