SHILLONG: Mobile connectivity along the Guwahati-Shillong highway is far from satisfactory with BSNL subscribers among others being at the receiving end more often than not.
Many people have complained that as soon as they cross Mawiong, the network begins to fail and under such circumstances, using internet services becomes near impossible.
According to BSNL subscribers apart from selected areas like Umsning, Nongpoh, Umling etc., the network is poor all along the highway.
When contacted, BSNL Nodal officer for Meghalaya and Additional GM (CFA) Sujatha Murali admitted that network connectivity in some portions of the highway was not satisfactory.
She, however, informed that as many as five base transceiver stations (BTS) are being upgraded along the highway and once the task is complete the services will see a significant improvement.
According to her the upgradation work will be completed in a month’s time.
It may be mentioned that there are 12 five base transceiver stations (BTS) along the Guwahati-Shillong highway.
Since the road is used by thousands of passengers on a single day, good cellular connectivity is the need of the hour on the highway.
