TURA: Sending out a strong message to criminals and anti-social elements operating in the region, several interior villages under Tikrikilla have decided to take matters into their own hands to defend themselves from such anti-social elements in their respective villages.
The move is being spearheaded by the Tikrikilla unit of Garo Students’ Union (GSU) who have urged all villages falling under Tikrikilla police station to conduct peace related  meetings in their respective villages and to take measures to keep their own villages safe.
During several such peace related meetings organized by the Garo Students’Union, the villagers sent a strong warning to anti-social elements not to enter their villages, or be ready to face the consequences at the hands of people in case of foul play by the various anti-social elements.
So far, meetings have been conducted in more than 10 villages under the guidance of GSU. Another mass meeting comprising  20 villages will soon be conducted by the GSU units of Sabanggre, Willimpur and Debragre.
The various resolutions taken by each village during their meeting have also been submitted to the local police station.
