Blast victims to undergo surgery

TURA: Doctors at Tura Civil Hospital, where five victims from the Williamnagar IED blast have been shifted for treatment, are
likely to conduct surgical operations on almost all of them as early as Sunday or Monday to remove shrapnel and splinters lodged in their bodies, hospital sources informed.
Among the five victims brought over from Williamnagar, Andrew R Marak and Jacob Marak are said to have sustained the most injuries from the bomb blast at the heart of the market. Both are to face early surgery to repair the damage caused to their bodies due to the blast.
Andrew R Marak (35) hailing from Chekwegre village sustained a broken right leg due to the impact of the blast while Jacob Marak (29) of Rongonggre village was hit by flying shrapnel which lodged inside his left eye.
The lone female victim, Silvarinba D Sangma (41) of Warima locality of the town sustained splinter injuries on her body and has also been brought to Tura for surgery along with two others.
