Dacoit shot dead in EGH

TURA: A highway robber was shot dead in an encounter with a police team in East Garo Hills on Friday night. One constable also sustained a bullet injury in the incident.
The incident took place in the Rongmil area when a police team from Rongjeng police station was patrolling the National Highway 62 on Friday night.
The cops came across a gang of highway robbers on the road and when challenged the criminals opened fire from country-made weapons in which police havildar Thomas Sangma of 6th MLP battalion sustained a bullet injury on his hand.
In the retaliatory fire by the police team one unidentified dacoit was shot dead while the rest fled from the scene leaving behind two dummy AK rifles which were seized by police. The body of the unidentified dacoit has been brought to Williamnagar hospital for post mortem while the injured police constable was taken for treatment to Rongjeng health centre.
