Army: Rajasimla killing probe report soon

SHILLONG: The Army will submit the internal inquiry report into the killing of two civilians allegedly by its personnel in North  Garo Hills in November last year shortly.
Informing this, Defence, PRO, Guwahati, Lt Col Suneet Newton on Monday said that the inquiry is in final stage.
The incident had send shockwaves across the state when two civilians were shot dead allegedly by army personnel in Rajasimla area.
It may be mentioned that the families of the victims have also filed an FIR into the incident.
According to the version given to the district police by the army, they allege that the motorcyclist did not heed warnings to stop and tried to drive through forcing the personnel to open fire. The army also claims that the two-wheeler did not sport a number plate and had ‘faulty’ headlights when it was ordered to halt.
It may be mentioned that the State Government also ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident, which is being conducted by District Magistrate David D Sangma.
