NGT notice on stone mining, Balpakram

SHILLONG: The National Green Tribunal has directed the state government to file its status report on   stone mining in Meghalaya and encroachment by way of illegal constructions in Balpakram National Park .
State Counsel for the state government Ranjan Mukherjee said that the two applications filed in the Supreme Court were transferred to NGT for necessary follow up action.
During the hearing on Monday, the NGT directed the State Government to file the status report by the next hearing which is scheduled to be held on January 25.
