City observes Road Safety Week

SHILLONG: Shillong, with the rest of the nation observed the road safety week which began on January 10 to culminate in January 16 organized by Shillong Traffic Police (STP) with an aim to improve safety on roads.
The 27th Road Safety Week will hold a rally in collaboration with cabs, commercial drivers, private vehicles and bikers association of Shillong among others on Friday.
The rally will begin from Soso Tham auditorium while the rally organizers will take the route from State Central Library, Madanriting, Rynjah, Laitumkhrah, Dhanketi, Barik, Old Cherra, Garikhana, Mawlai petrol pump, Jaiaw, Mawkhar, and Khyndailad Police Bazar and will culminate at Police Reserve at Polo.
Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Sacheng Marak appealed various taxi drivers’ association to attend the event in their respective branches to educate and remind themselves of the guidelines to be followed while driving.
