TURA: In view of the explosion of a powerful IED in front of a wine shop at Williamnagar market on January 9, the East Garo Hills district administration has sounded an alert in the district and issued a circular on “do’s and don’ts” for the public.
Fearing that wine shops, bridge across the river Simsang at Warimagre, the hanging bridge across the river Simsang at Nokgil Awe and Dobu, Rongsak, Rongjeng and Songsak markets might be potential targets of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) to create fear psychosis among the people, the district administration has advised the general public against parking vehicles on the road, allowing unidentified persons to keep their bags inside shops, houses and offices, dumping of garbage near houses and offices, leaving bicycles and motorcycles on the road and keeping windows of the vehicles open among others.
