Person found dead in police station

SHLLONG: A person who was handed over to Mendipathar police station was found dead on Wednesday.
Police informed that on January 12, residents of Dilma village in North Garo Hills   produced one person identified as Macmark .N. Marak alias Lorrence (32/M) at Mendipathar police station reportedly for creating nuisance in and around the village
Accordingly, he was kept at Mendipathar police station for safe custody and the police informed his relatives  as well as guardians to take him home, but no one responded.
However, on January 13, he was found dead while sleeping in the verandah of Mendipathar police station.
Inquest was conducted by Magistrate and after observing necessary formalities, the cadaver was sent to PHC Mendipathar for postmortem.
When contacted, North Garo Hills Superintendent of Police, R. Singh said that all the procedures have been followed and the body has been handed over to the relatives.
